A fantastic end to the month!

Crawley Town have now moved up to 9th place in League 2 following a 5 game unbeaten run in January. The Reds started the month badly losing at Tranmere & Luton, but a draw against league-leaders gave the reds a morale boost. Blackmore pulled some strings singing 6 players, 4 on loan & 2 permanent deals. The Reds looked more confident & with Pericard in top-form and classy on-loan Hazell bagging 2 goals, Crawley thrashed Yeovil Town 5-1. Dumbya & Fridlund (loan) soon left to help balance the books.
The Reds then took at decent point at Shrewsbury thanks to new singing Anthony Elding's first goal for Crawley. Next they took on old-enemies Oxford United at The Broadfield, but with Pericard on top form, Oxford couldn't stop him. CTFC 3-0 OUFC. A Fantastic win recently followed up by a good 2-1 win over Bury at home.

Cox (Brighton)

Luton Town 3-0 Crawley

Crawley were trounced by a very decent Luton Town side at Kennelworth Road. It certainly wasn't the drama we had seen at the Broadfield earlier on in the season. Luton eventually winning 3-0 thanks to goals from Bignall, Bishop & o.g. Wedderburn. The Reds never really looked like getting close to the Hatters & from the start didnt really compete. Crawley now face a difficuly Rushden test on Saturday at the Broadfield.

The Highs & Lows of Season 2012-2013 - so far!

We take a look at the high & low points of the season so far!

The season started with a high point after the reds found themselves 1-0 at Burton Albion in their first ever Football League match, but a Nicola Saric popped up with an equaliser to send the reds fans home happy.

An early low point came in the league cup home defeat to Portsmouth, despite a battling second half the reds went down 4-0 in front of a dissapointing 2765 crowd.

The highest point so far would come at home to Tranmere Rovers where the lads recorded their first Football League win with a 5-1 thumping.

Also the reds were picking up points in the league & beat MK Dons on penalties at the Broadfield. The high point came when the Reds pulled off a good 2-1 victory at home to Aberdeen in a random home friendly.

The lowest point of the season so far was the humilitating defeat to Millwall 6-0 in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. The reds left embaressed & shocked. Followed by a 4-1 home thumping by Port Vale aswell, but despite the rare away win at Wycombe the reds slouched to 3 straight defeats to Northampton, Maccelsfield & Chesterfield.

The FA Cup 2nd round draw was upon after a straight forward 3-0 victory at Canvey & an away trip to Carrow Road (Norwich) left the fans excited but weary. Expecting to get flounced the reds turned up with 1565 fans, an amazing effort! 2-0 down at half - time Blackmore brings on Richard Logan who sends the travelling fans in delight with an 86th minute equaliser after Obika had netted. This meant a replay opportunity for the Reds at the Broadfield.

With a 3-1 win at Lincoln the reds seemed confident and after the 3rd time of asking the match was played. 4996 fans turned up! a new club record but after a battling performance the reds were knocked out by an impressive 90th minute free-kick. This was a high point financially with the reds apparently clocking 100k for the match.

Since the match the reds have only won once in four against a deplted Burton Albion side.

Not Bad Business!

Today 6th of January Crawley Town have confirmed the sale of promising young goalkeeper Paul McCardle for a fee of £250k to St. Pat's Athletic. Paul, 19 was a fantastic assest for the Reds after signing for 1k in summer of 2011. A gamble you could say by Blackmore but it 100% worked after the young keeper kept his number 1 jersey for the reds in an impressive promotion campaign. The young lad was drawing attention from several big names including his national team Northern Ireland with whom he made his debut against Denmark. But it wasn't the question of if he were to be sold but when. Not bad business for the reds mind you with a profit of £249k adding to the £100k Norwich figures.

The Reds busy already in January

Crawley Town have already moved in to sweep 3 new players after the recent departures of 4 players. Most noticeably manager Blackmore has been given some money to spend and has purchased Claude Gnapka (above) from Luton Town for 10k. This shows encouraging signs for the fact that it is the first time that Blackmore has 'purchased' a player since the arrival of Paul McCardle for 1k. Gnapka 29, is a versitile defender who can play anywhere across the back, he was a succesfull part of the Luton Town Blue Square Premier Team championship win in 2010. Also arrived have youngsters Simon Fridlund, 17 and Stephen Dallas, 22. Simon has arrived from Djuargarden for 1k and can play in midfield, Stephen was captured from Derry City on a free transfer.
